Hi bloggers, what a lovely day it is today. I am looking forward to the weekend, as I am going skiing at Mt Hutt and practicing my ice skating as I have a competition coming up. What sports do you do? I also do tumble cheerleading and swimming. As you may know this week it maths week! For maths week have split into our house colours and done four rotations and done something different in each one.
The first one I did was with Mr. Shaw we played a game where we split in half and half of the group sat on a chair (they were in a circle) the other group had to try and verse the other team and get the maths question before the other group. One person at a time moved round the circle and had three lives ( if you get a question wrong you get one live taken away) you had to try and move to each person and beat them to the question.
The second maths game I played was bingo with Mrs. Davies, we had six rows of numbers and we had to find them quickly. We had to answer the basic facts questions and get a line and then a full house (if there is time)!
The third game I played was with Mrs. Osborn and we where maths gambling, here is how you play! The dice will be rolled, and everytime it is rolled you write down the number rolled. After each roll you get the chance to either bank, or gamble your points. If you decide to bank, you sit down and total up all the points written down, but you can not add any more points until the next round. If you decide to gamble, you stay up for another roll and write the next number down. However, if the number 6 is rolled, you lose all your points that have not been banked. There can be multiple rounds, each round you start from 0 again. The winner is the person who has the most points, once all of the participants of the game have either banked their points and sat down or lost all their points from gambling and losing.
The fourth and final game I played was with Mr. Gillstrom. We used a website and chose number cards and them had to make the number that was written on the whiteboard. We had one minute for each one and had to write them down on paper.
We have also done a scavenger hunt with our kiwi buddies! It spelled out 'maths is cool.' Throughout the day we have been watching some of the famous singers maths week video and had to work out the problem and answer. Here are the videos we have done today. One of the videos was One Direction!
Have a great rest of your Friday! Happy blogging! :)
