The Crazy Change In Hangi!

Hello bloggers, This week we have been looking a lot into hangi and how it has changed. What are the improvements and what are the similarities. As you can see I have taken lots of time to colour and draw it all out to look nice. I am very happy with how it turned out and how I set it out. What hangi do you think is best without reading my poster? As you can see I did a candy cane look for the big titles. I have used lots of colours and spread them out throughout my poster. Hello bloggers, Ki O Rahi is a maori game that is super interesting and fun to play. Some of the rules are hard to understand so I have created some instructions for you so that you can play this game with your friends too, there is all the information that you need right on this poster. This was fun to create and a little hard as I had to watch a video and then record everything onto my poster. I also have a slide of how Ki O Rahi became a game and the story of Ki O Rahi. Welcome bloggers, New Zealand's culture, traditions and our heritage is super important to New Zealand. For our term 4 inquiry we have been looking at NZ's culture, traditions and our heritage. We have already looked over so much including a poster all about things unique to NZ. Today we backed pavlova and yesterday we made a slide including the korowai, the haka and the moko. Maori Memory Match Game And Video!

Hi bloggers, It is a lovely day today. Last week for maori we started making a maori card game. We had to create a poster with the instructions of how to play our game and add our qr code to it to be able to view the instructional video. I used qr code generator to create my qr code. We also created our own memory match cards on google slides. My game is memory match and has the english meaning of something and the maori version e.g english: Hello maori: Kia Ora. I have also added clipart images of each thing so that it is easy to identify. Have you used qr code generator before? Have you ever created a maori game before? What words do you know in maori? Maori On Fridays!

Hi bloggers, welcome back to my blog. Today's task for Maori is to create something about matariki. We had the option to either do an animation, story, poem, the meaning and their animal, sock puppets, or an information report. I chose to do the meaning and their animal, for this I had to choose what animal I thought is best for each of the matariki stars/the seven sisters. I chose an animal for each star, witch there are seven off. I then had to draw each of the animals that I chose and then but it on a matariki star background. In the Māori language, Matariki is both the name of the Pleiades star cluster and also of the season of its first rising in late May or early June. This is a marker of the beginning of the new year. Have you created something for matariki this year?

What I Have Been Up To This Week!

Hi bloggers, welcome back to my blog. This week I have been very busy with my work. This week for maths I have been doing lots of tests and basic facts bricks. I have been writing these out in my maths book.

This week for literacy I have been finishing my website and it is almost finished. I am really happy with how it is coming along and I am looking forward to posting it in a week or so. Make sure you keep a close eye on my blog to see my site when I post it.

This week for inquiry I have been working on my global issue slide, world hunger. I researched my issue in New Zealand, Africa, and Asia. I wrote down the source that I used and What made it a true piece of evidence.


This week for maori I have been working on my koru art, and I am almost finished. Today I made an adobe spark which has displayed all the work that I have done. I know some of the slides are glitchy and it is really frustrating for me but, with many hours put into this I feel that I have tried my best and taken many attempts to try and make it the best that it can be. Have you created a koru design necklace out of air dry clay or greenstone before?

My Friday Task! (Koru Designs)

Hi bloggers, welcome back to my blog. Today's Friday task is to do our koru art. Over the past week we have been creating koru art, first we had to draw our design with a pencil, then we had to go over it with a vivid. Once we did that we had to colour it with pastels and make it dark on the edges and slowly fade lighter towards the center of our korus. The last step is to dye our art, and then we are done. Today I finished colouring my art with pastels and then I dyed it with black dye. I had to use three coats of dye so that it was dark enough. Whilst I was waiting for my dye to dry I had to sketch out three designs of a koru necklace and then practice molding it with playdough. My final design is the heart, these took a while because it was actually really hard to get it to look nice and mould it properly. The final design I chose is the heart koru, my design symbolises love, my family together. The two spirals at the top of my heart represent being together as a family. Then we had to write what our necklace symbolises and what the meaning is to us. This was an overall fun and challenging task and took up most of my Friday. Have you created a koru design before? My Bitmoji Pepeha!

Hi bloggers, todays task is to create a bitmoji pepeha. A pepeha is a way of introducing yourself in maori, so you can make connections with people. This is to identify who we are, where we are from and our family. Bitmoji is where you can create your very own avatar, and perolinazie it to look like you. I love my bitmoji pepeha and had so much fun creating it. Have you created a bitmoji pepeha or used bitmoji before?

My Creative Pepeha!

Hi bloggers, at the moment we are diving deeper into our family heritage and our identity. I have made a pepeha, which shows my mountain, lake, where I am from, my name and my family name. I chose Mt Hutt as my mountain because I go skiing there and Lake Kaniere because it is where my family holiday hillton and batch is and we go there all the time and have lots of fun.
