Hi bloggers, welcome back to my blog. I have completed my upskilled and have got the reading badge digitly. Upskilled is a website that Mr. Shaw has created and put a variety of different topics on there for us to complete as an extra if we want to, it is just like science badges but online and our badges get added on our linked, we upload them to seesaw. I have got lots of cool tasks on seesaw if at some time you would like to go and have a look. I am now working on painting and baking, I have done one task on painting already. What have you done on upskilled?

Hi bloggers, welcome back to my blog. This week for numeracy I have been doing lots of things including testing and bricks. I completed brick 25 today and am know working on brick 27, 30 is the highest that they go. Each week on Thursday we get tested for basic facts in other works bricks, we get 3 seconds each question and have to get them all right in order to move up. For testing we have been doing lots of khan academy and paper tasks. You will see my results on my slide linked bellow for khan academy. What have you been up to for numeracy this week? Do you have bricks? If so what brick are you up to?

My Amazing Wizard Of Oz Website!
Hi bloggers, welcome back to my blog. Over the past few weeks for literacy I have been working on my Wizard Of Oz website. I have put a lot of time and effort into this website and taken time to make it the best that it could be. Please take the time to have a look through my Wizard Of Oz website. I really enjoyed working on this website and it has been a lot of fun. What do you know about The Wizard Of Oz? Have you read the novel or seen the film?

Inquiry For Week 10!
Hi bloggers, welcome back to my blog. This week for inquiry we have been finalising our ironic art for our inquiry that we want to do as our final outcome. If you are not already aware of our topic for inquiry this term we are diving deeper into global issues. I am focusing on world hunger, so my piece of art is related to hunger. Since I can't draw people really well I decided to do rabbits instead. In the sketch below you will see my final design before doing it on a canvas. Can you see the message that I am trying to spread?

Maori On Fridays!
Hi bloggers, welcome back to my blog. Today's task for Maori is to create something about matariki. We had the option to either do an animation, story, poem, the meaning and their animal, sock puppets, or an information report. I chose to do the meaning and their animal, for this I had to choose what animal I thought is best for each of the matariki stars/the seven sisters. I chose an animal for each star, witch there are seven off. I then had to draw each of the animals that I chose and then but it on a matariki star background. In the Māori language, Matariki is both the name of the Pleiades star cluster and also of the season of its first rising in late May or early June. This is a marker of the beginning of the new year. Have you created something for matariki this year?
Wednesday Coding/Binary!
Hi bloggers, welcome back to my blog. This week for coding/binary we have been learning how to do ASCII and making bracelets or keychains with our initials in them. Binary is a number system that uses 1’s and 0’s to represent all of our normal set of numbers. You can use the place values as multiples of 2 to work out how to do it. ASCII is set of encoded symbols that a computer uses to turn Binary into letters and other symbols from the English language (like what is on our keyboard). I turned my initials into binary numbers, and then turned those binary numbers into an ASCII code. Using colours to represent the 1’s and 0’s, my initials in ASCII can be represented by the pattern you see in my image below. What do you think? Have you ever tried encoding anything in binary or ASCII? Could you have a try for yourself? Can you work out how to write your initials in ASCII from the pattern below? Can you guess what my initials are, from the image below?
What Have I Been Up To In Numeracy This Week?
Hi bloggers, welcome back to my blog. This week for numeracy I have been doing lots of khan academy tasks and dusing over the volume of a cube. I have enjoyed this week for numeracy as I really like doing khan academy tasks and the tasks my teacher have been giving me are enjoyable. Have a look at my maths slide and the screencastify on my slide. Have you created a screencastify for a voice over for a slide before?

The Image That Spoke To Me The Most!
Hi bloggers, welcome back to my blog. This week for inquiry I have been very busy researching for inquiry. I had to choose out of a variety of images and pick the one that spoke to me the most. To me this image is how poor people want to be able to have food and water but the rich aren't letting them and stopping them from having access to the things they need. The poor want food and water but the government and rich don’t think it is a bigger enough of an issue to need to act on it. This child is wanting water but the government is blocking the pipe so the child can’t have any. I can tell that he or she is thirsty because his or her arms are skinny and their body has been shrunk from starvation. In this image the little child is trying to have some water, but the person in the suit is blocking it so that the child can't have any. Have you ever had an image that spoke to you?

My Amazing Siapo Design!
Hi bloggers welcome back to my blog. Today's afternoon task was to create a siapo design on paper, colour it in with pastels and then dye it a pinky colour. A siapo design is where you use reflection and have the same exact design on all areas. Traditionally a siapo design is wood striped and made into a tablecloth. I chose to use these colours as I thought they would look nice together and suit the design. We had to select earth colours for these so that they would look like the real thing. I chose to do this design as I love flowers and leaves and they are related to nature and the environment. Have you created a siapo design on paper before? If so what does it look like?

What Is Irony?
Hi bloggers, welcome back to my blog. This week we have been making ironic comic's. Me, Bella, and Sofia, chose to do dramatic irony. Irony occurs when what we observe is the direct opposite of what we expect to have seen. We most often use it to add humor to an idea, often for entertainment or to lighten a situation. We can also use it to make our audience think deeper about the idea we are trying to explain. To understand how to use irony we must know how to create irony, and we must understand it's three forms, situational irony, dramatic irony, and last but not least verbal irony. Situational irony is a literary device that you can easily identify in literary works. Simply, it occurs when incongruity appears between expectations of something to happen, and what actually happens instead. Dramatic irony is defined as when an audience watching a play understands what's going on in a situation while the characters are unaware of what is happening. Verbal Irony is when words express something contrary to truth or someone says the opposite of what they really feel or mean. Verbal irony is often sarcastic.

What I Have Been Up To This Week!
Hi bloggers, welcome back to my blog. This week I have been very busy with my work. This week for maths I have been doing lots of tests and basic facts bricks. I have been writing these out in my maths book.
This week for literacy I have been finishing my website and it is almost finished. I am really happy with how it is coming along and I am looking forward to posting it in a week or so. Make sure you keep a close eye on my blog to see my site when I post it.
This week for inquiry I have been working on my global issue slide, world hunger. I researched my issue in New Zealand, Africa, and Asia. I wrote down the source that I used and What made it a true piece of evidence.
This week for maori I have been working on my koru art, and I am almost finished. Today I made an adobe spark which has displayed all the work that I have done. I know some of the slides are glitchy and it is really frustrating for me but, with many hours put into this I feel that I have tried my best and taken many attempts to try and make it the best that it can be. Have you created a koru design necklace out of air dry clay or greenstone before?
See you next week! Have a great weekend!
